Layla was so glad to be home. She loved school, she loved what she was learning and she was the ever diligent student, but after a while, home called to her. She missed her mom, she missed her friends and that crooked city with all it's problems. It occurred to her that she was too young to be nostalgic, but it was too late for that.

First, she went home, got all her things settled in. She was hoping to start her new job and have her own place in a couple months, not that she didn't love her mother, but she was old enough to take care of herself. Besides, her mom had done well enough, even after dad died.

The second thing she wanted to do was go visit friends and the very first person that came to mind was hopefully home. Dressed in jean shorts and a green tank top, Layla drove to Warren's place. She didn't know if he was home and she preferred it that way. She would have rather surprised him and maybe catch him off guard. They hadn't spoken in a while, with the way life went and he may have had a little idea about the timing for her coming back.

It was the end of May and warm out. She loved sunny weather. It reminded her of summers as a kid, running in the sprinklers. She was nervous as she approached the door, fluffing her hair a little and raised her knuckles to knock on the door.
